Day 7: A relaxed day in Zermatt – leisure and enjoyment

After the eventful days before, I'm looking forward to making the seventh day a completely relaxed one. Zermatt offers a wide range of leisure activities in summer, and today I have the freedom to shape the day according to my own wishes. The clear, fresh Alpine air awakens my senses, and I decide on a leisurely stroll through the charming village. From the church bridge, I have a fantastic view of the majestic Matterhorn, which stands out impressively against the blue sky. The sight of this famous peak is simply overwhelming and a must for every visitor to Zermatt. Those who prefer something more adventurous can also take a trip to the Klein Matterhorn – Europe's highest mountain railways take you up to over 3,800 meters in altitude.

After exploring, I treat myself to some time out in one of the small cafés known for their delicious cakes. The fresh baked goods here are simply irresistible, and a piece of homemade cake is a must today. I spend the afternoon completely relaxed, perhaps with a dip in the pool or simply relaxing in the wonderful alpine surroundings.

A perfect day to unwind and enjoy the beauty of nature.

Day 8: From the Alps to the Italian lakes – a day full of contrasts

Isola Bella on Lake Maggiore with gardens and palace

The eighth day of my journey begins with departure from Zermatt. First, I head to Täsch, from where I continue on to Brig. The route takes me over the famous Simplon Pass, one of Switzerland's most impressive Alpine passes. At 2,000 meters altitude, I'm treated to a breathtaking panoramic view of the surrounding peaks – a true feast for the eyes for every nature lover. The fresh mountain air and the magnificent view make the stopover an unforgettable experience.

From here, the journey continues through northern Italy, past charming villages and idyllic landscapes. Soon I reach Lake Maggiore, whose deep blue water blends perfectly into the picturesque surroundings. The afternoon is mine to spend as I please, and I take the opportunity to stroll along the shores of the lake and let the relaxed atmosphere sink in.

For the adventurous, there is the option of taking a trip to Isola Bella – a small island with beautiful gardens and a magnificent palace. A visit there would be a highlight for anyone who loves art and nature.

In the evening, I arrive in Lugano, where the elegant Hotel De La Paix awaits me. The day ends with a walk along the lakeshore and anticipation for the coming days in this charming region of Switzerland.
