Austria is home to a wide range of renowned ski resorts. But which regions are among the most popular? Below you will find an overview of the ski resorts that you simply shouldn't miss on your next visit to Austria.

Tyrol

The ski regions of Tyrol are growing in popularity. Both passionate winter sports enthusiasts and families will find a comprehensive range of options and excellent conditions here.

Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis (Level: easy to intermediate)

The Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis ski resort is renowned for its outstanding family friendliness. The slopes range from easy to intermediate difficulty and are ideally suited for beginners and children. Families benefit from numerous offerings – from childcare and adventure arenas to indoor play halls. A particular highlight is the children's snow alm. In the Adventure Land, children can discover the world of the mascot Murmli. Together with the SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser, Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis is one of sixteen certified ski regions in Tyrol and is therefore considered especially family-friendly. The winter season runs from early December to early April.

SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser - Brixental (Level: easy to difficult)

Have you always wanted to visit the filming locations of the series "Der Bergdoktor" while also enjoying varied slopes? Then SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser – Brixental is the ideal choice. The area offers diverse possibilities for both adults and children. The location is also excellent for planning day trips to Munich, Innsbruck, or Salzburg. SkiWelt is – much like Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis – family-friendly and offers special family ski weeks during which children up to 15 years of age receive free ski passes. Of course, slopes for beginners are also available. The ski season runs from early December to late March.

Ischgl (Level: easy to difficult)

If you want to combine wellness and entertainment with skiing, Ischgl is the perfect choice. The varied slopes offer enjoyment for every skill level and provide exciting variety with snow parks – even for experienced skiers and snowboarders. After an eventful day, you can relax at the Silvretta Therme and enjoy premium spa treatments. The start of the season is celebrated with a major event featuring international artists such as Ellie Goulding. Ischgl also offers a diverse experience programme with activities such as snowshoeing in a breathtaking Alpine setting. The ski season runs from late November to early May.

Sölden (Level: easy to difficult)

The Sölden ski resort is well known far beyond Austria's borders. It is home to, among other things, the longest ski run in the country. In addition, you can explore the fun park and ride the 7 km toboggan run down into the valley even at night. Sölden also served as a filming location for the James Bond film "Spectre" – a must for film fans. In the 007 experience world, you can immerse yourself in the film set. The winter season runs from mid-September to early May.

Ski Resorts Outside of Tyrol

It's not only Tyrol that impresses with outstanding ski resorts. Other regions of Austria also offer remarkable winter sports opportunities. The Arlberg ski resort in particular should not be overlooked.

Arlberg (Level: easy to difficult)

The Arlberg is one of the five largest ski resorts in Austria and impresses with a unique panoramic view of the Alps. Numerous runs await you here for beginners, intermediate skiers, and experts alike. In addition to classic skiing, you can try your hand at cross-country skiing or discover hiking trails. Particularly worth seeing is the Lech area with the Skyspace – an underground light art installation that is bathed in colourful light at sunrise or dusk. The ski season begins early December and ends late April.

With these recommendations, you have a selection of first-class ski resorts that offer unforgettable experiences both in Tyrol and beyond. Each region has its very own charm – your winter holiday in Austria will certainly be an unforgettable experience.
