Day 13: From rural idyll to Zurich – history and farewell

Grossmünster and Limmat in Zurich's old town

It's time to move on again, and the road takes me from the Alps back to the bustling city of Zurich. But before I arrive, I still enjoy the scenic beauty of rural Switzerland. The drive takes me along Lake Brienz to Brienz, a charming village famous for its centuries-old woodcarving tradition. At the Jobin Swiss Woodcarving Centre, I immerse myself in the history of this fascinating craft, which dates back to the 19th century. The intricate carvings and the passion with which this craft is preserved here are truly impressive.

After this cultural stop, I continue my journey and cross the Brünig Pass, which offers fantastic views of Lake Lungern and Lake Sarnen. The Swiss landscape shows its best side even in the final kilometers of my road trip.

Arriving in Zurich, a city tour awaits me. Together with my tour guide, I explore the famous Bahnhofstrasse, the historic Grossmünster, the picturesque Limmat, and the Fraumünster. It's fascinating how Zurich manages to combine tradition and modernity.

In the evening, I meet up with my fellow travelers at a cozy restaurant. Over a delicious dinner and a glass of wine, we toast to the shared experiences of this unforgettable trip. A perfect ending to this eventful journey through Switzerland.

Day 14: Heading home – a relaxed drive to Freiburg

After two wonderful weeks in Switzerland, it's time to head home. Instead of flying, as some do, I've opted for the comfortable, roughly two-hour drive from Zurich to Freiburg.

There's one thing I haven't told you yet: I almost forgot about the toll vignette – but while preparing for the trip, I luckily remembered in time that you need a vignette for the motorway in Switzerland. The digital vignette saves the day: quickly registered online, and it's valid immediately – it couldn't be easier!

Then I set off by car, and as I cover the final kilometers through the picturesque landscape, I think back on the many unforgettable experiences of this trip. From the majestic peaks of Stanserhorn to the enchanting alleys of Gruyères to the impressive panoramas of the Glacier Express – every moment was overwhelming.

The anticipation for the next tour is already rising within me. After this impressive journey through Switzerland, I'm curious where I'll end up next. But one thing is certain: this tour definitely hasn't cured my wanderlust – it's only made it stronger!
