Czech Republic: D7 exit to Prague Airport closed from September 9 to 25, 2026

Anyone travelling to Prague Airport via the D7 from the direction of Kladno, Slaný, Louny or Chomutov needs to rethink their route: the exit to Václav Havel Airport will be completely closed from 9 to 25 September 2026. The reason is the second construction phase of the new grade-separated Aviatická junction, which is intended to guide traffic more safely to the terminal in future.

The exit affected is the one in the direction of Prague coming from Kladno, Slaný, Louny and Chomutov. Anyone wanting to reach the airport during this period must first continue on the D7 to the Evropská junction, turn around there, and then drive back to the airport exit. The responsible road authority ŘSD and the police expect noticeably longer queues in the area of the junction.

Significantly longer journey times possible

According to ŘSD, the journey to the airport could take 60 to 90 minutes longer during the affected periods. This mainly affects travellers arriving via the border crossings in north-west Czechia who would normally take the D7 to the terminal. Anyone with a flight from Prague during this period should allow considerably more time buffer or, where possible, switch to public transport.

Tolls in Czechia

The same applies on the D7: the vignette is just one of several forms of collecting the Czech toll. For vehicles up to 3.5 t GVW, i.e. cars and motorhomes, a vignette requirement applies on motorways such as the D7, while motorcycles remain toll-free. For vehicles over 3.5 t GVW, i.e. trucks and buses, the distance-based toll of the satellite-based MYTO CZ OBU system applies instead, the amount of which depends, among other things, on road category, distance travelled and emissions class.
