Czech Republic: Pražský okruh (D0) near Ruzyně on contraflow traffic until 24 October 2026
On the Pražský okruh (D0), the outer motorway ring around Prague, a complete closure with oncoming traffic on two lanes instead of four will be in effect between 24 September and 24 October 2026. The affected section is around 6 kilometres long, between kilometre 76.3 and 82.1 in the direction of Ruzyně–D7/D1. The reason is construction work as part of the "D0 revitalizace CBK" project, which aims to bring the motorway ring in northwest Prague to a safe final condition.
Anyone travelling on the D0 between Prague Airport (Ruzyně) and the D1 motorway (towards Brno), D5 (towards Pilsen/Germany) or D7 (towards Chomutov/Germany) should expect reduced speeds on a narrowed carriageway during this period. The on-ramp at the Jesenice junction (MÚK Jesenice, exit 82) will be completely closed for the entire duration of the construction work.
Why this construction site matters for international travellers
The Pražský okruh is the central distribution route around Prague: anyone coming from Germany via the D5 or the D8 heading towards Brno, Ostrava or Slovakia, without driving straight through the middle of Prague, will as a rule use exactly this section of the D0. A one-month closure with oncoming traffic on such a heavily used bypass route can cause noticeable delays, especially during rush hours and on weekends.
Further construction sites on the same stretch of road
In September and October 2026, several additional smaller works are also taking place on the D0: carriageway maintenance between kilometre 22.7 and 23.3 (until 5 October), bridge renovation between kilometre 16.1 and 18.3 (until 30 September), as well as sewer works at junction 62 (until 1 October). Anyone planning this route should therefore generally allow for some extra time, regardless of which section of the route they use.
