Czech Republic: Pražský okruh (D0) between D1 and Jesenice under contraflow traffic until 24 October 2026
On the Pražský okruh (D0), the outer motorway ring around Prague, one carriageway will be closed between 24 September and 24 October 2026. Traffic will be diverted onto the opposite carriageway; only two lanes each will be available in both directions. The affected section is around 4.6 kilometres long, running from kilometre 77.5 to 82.1 between the motorway junction with the D1 (Modletice) and the Jesenice interchange in the southeast of Prague. The reason is construction work as part of the "D0 revitalizace CBK" project, which is intended to bring this section of the ring motorway up to a safe final condition.
Anyone travelling on the D0 between the D1 (towards Brno) and the southwest of Prague, for example towards the D5 (towards Pilsen/Germany), the D7 (towards Chomutov/Germany) or Prague Airport (Ruzyně), should expect reduced speeds on a narrowed carriageway during this period.
Why this roadworks site is relevant for international travellers
The Pražský okruh is the central distributor route around Prague: anyone coming from Germany via the D5 and wanting to continue towards Brno, Ostrava or Slovakia without driving through the middle of Prague will generally use exactly this southern section of the D0 between Jesenice and the D1. A one-month period of contraflow traffic on such a heavily used bypass route can lead to noticeable delays, especially during peak times and at weekends.
Further roadworks on the D0
Sewerage works are also taking place on the D0 between kilometre 62.4 and 62.6 until 1 November 2026. Anyone planning to use this route should therefore generally allow a bit more time, regardless of which section of the route they use.
Czechia toll at a glance
For cars and motorhomes up to 3.5 t gross weight, the digital vignette requirement applies on motorways (D-roads). It is a flat fee for a fixed period. Motorcycles and trikes are exempt from the vignette requirement.
For trucks, buses and motorhomes over 3.5 t gross vehicle weight, the distance-based toll applies instead, charged via the electronic, satellite-based toll system MYTO CZ with an on-board unit (OBU); the rates are based on distance, vehicle category, number of axles, and EURO and CO₂ class. Not relevant for most car travelers. There is no separate special toll in the Czech Republic.
