Traffic jams are expected in many places

For the coming weekend, travelers should prepare for traffic jams and allow extra time for their journey! Not only has the winter season and the associated winter sports reached its peak, but carnival season also begins this week. As a result, many parts of Germany will experience delays that should be factored into your travel planning.

The start of the school holidays in Bavaria and parts of Baden-Württemberg will significantly affect traffic jams in the south over the weekend and lead to delays on major roads. Complete closures of various routes are also possible. In addition, there are already existing full closures such as those on the A2 and A7. Travelers should plan for extra time, especially during the morning and evening hours on Saturday and Sunday, particularly if you are heading to the alpine regions.

Regarding the carnival holidays, please note that the city centers of the carnival strongholds (Cologne, Düsseldorf, Mainz) are partially closed. This is due to the various carnival parades. At the same time, traffic will be slower in these cities. Therefore, extra time should be allowed here as well.

• A81: Heilbronn – Stuttgart

• A93: Inntaldreieck – Kufstein

• A96: Munich – Lindau

• A95/B2: Munich – Garmisch-Partenkirchen

• A99: Munich bypass
