Traffic jams are pre-programmed in many places

For the coming weekend, travelers should prepare for traffic jams and plan additional time for their journey! Not only has the winter season and the winter sports that come with it reached its peak, but the carnival season also begins this week. As a result, delays are expected in many parts of Germany, which should be factored into holiday planning.

The start of the school holidays in Bavaria as well as in parts of Baden-Württemberg will significantly affect traffic jams in the south over the weekend and lead to delays on the highways. Complete closures of various routes are also possible. In addition, there are already existing full closures such as those on the A2 and A7. For travelers, the rule is: plan for more time, especially in the morning and evening hours on Saturday and Sunday, particularly if you are heading toward the Alpine mountain regions.

Regarding the carnival holidays, it should be noted that the city centers of the carnival strongholds (Cologne, Düsseldorf, Mainz) are partially closed. This is due to the various carnival parades. At the same time, traffic will be slowed down in these cities. Therefore, more time should be planned here as well.

• A81: Heilbronn – Stuttgart

• A93: Inntaldreieck – Kufstein

• A96: Munich – Lindau

• A95/B2: Munich – Garmisch-Partenkirchen

• A99: Munich bypass
