Starting from December 19, 2024, until March 30, exit closures will be in effect on the Tauern Autobahn (A10). Due to the increased traffic during the Christmas holidays, winter travel traffic often diverts to the municipalities along the highway. To keep the traffic away from these areas, the exits at Hallein, Kuchl, and Golling will be closed. Only residents and travelers with a specific destination within 20 km of Hallein, 15 km of Kuchl, and 35 km of Golling are allowed to use these exits.
In addition, there will be ski tourism traffic and construction sites in the Hiefler and Ofenauertunnels near Golling (Tennengau) and the Werfen tunnel chain (Pongau). Significant traffic jams and delays are expected, especially on Saturdays.
In addition to the A10, heavy traffic and potential delays are also expected on the Pinzgau Road (B311) in the Salzach Valley and at the small German Corner between Bad Reichenhall and Lofer (Pinzgau).
There will also be additional closures in Tyrol. From December 21 to April 27, between 7 AM and 7 PM, a traffic ban for bypass traffic will be in effect in the districts of Kufstein, Reutte, and Imst. On Saturdays, this ban will also apply to the district of Schwaz.
In Vorarlberg, exit closures will apply to all vehicles during the Christmas holidays. This affects the Arlberg Expressway (S16) from December 21 to 28, from 8 AM to 6 PM. The affected ramps are Bings, Braz-West, Braz-East, and Langen am Arlberg.
If you plan to travel on any of these routes, especially the A10, make sure to allow extra time.
