Roadworks on the A14 and renovations in the Pfänder Tunnel
Starting March 2nd, work will begin between Bregenz and Wolfurt-Lauterach (A14 Rheintal/Walgau motorway), alongside the second phase of renovations in the Pfänder Tunnel. These renovations aim to increase safety on Vorarlberg's motorways.
Renovations in the Pfänder Tunnel
In the Pfänder Tunnel, the operational and safety technology in the eastern tube will be renewed. These renovation works will take place mostly at night, so that traffic in the eastern tube will only be restricted at night (8 p.m. to 5 a.m.). To ensure that driving through the Pfänder Tunnel remains possible, a two-way traffic section will be set up in the western tube. However, the maximum speed will be reduced to 60 km/h. The renovation works are expected to be completed by the end of October 2026.
Outside of the night closures, both tunnel tubes can be used free of construction work. In addition: the Pfänder Tunnel will be free of construction work on high-traffic public holidays and on weekends.
Roadworks on the A14
In addition to the Pfänder Tunnel, the second phase of work to renew the roadway and drainage in the three-lane section will also begin. The works on the A14 (between Bregenz and Wolfurt-Lauterach) will also start on March 2nd. During the works, two lanes will remain open to traffic. The works are expected to be completed by mid-July 2026.
