Days 8 and 9: Mayrhofen and the Zillertal Alps
I spent days 8 and 9 in Mayrhofen, a lively holiday resort in the heart of the Zillertal Alps. Mayrhofen, known for its breathtaking mountain scenery and diverse leisure activities, was the perfect place to experience the beauty of Tyrol.
Arriving in Mayrhofen, I immediately felt the vibrant atmosphere of the town. Surrounded by the majestic peaks of the Alps, it offered an impressive backdrop. I spent the first day exploring the charming town. The lively streets with their traditional Tyrolean houses, cosy cafés and small shops invited visitors to stroll and linger.
The next day, a hike in the Zillertal Alps was on the agenda. The area around Mayrhofen is known for its picturesque hiking trails that lead through impressive mountain landscapes. I chose a route that took me through blooming alpine meadows, dense forests and past rushing mountain streams. The fresh mountain air and the spectacular views of the surrounding peaks were a true delight.
After a day full of hiking, I returned to Mayrhofen and enjoyed the local cuisine in one of the cosy restaurants. Tyrolean bacon dumplings and a glass of Zillertal beer rounded off the day perfectly.
My time in Mayrhofen was filled with the beauty of nature, the warmth of the people and the relaxed atmosphere of the town. It was two days that impressively showed me the diversity and splendour of the Tyrolean Alpine landscape.
