Hello dear fellow travelers,
Today I'd like to tell you about my latest adventure trip: a 14-day road trip through picturesque Austria. Anyone who knows me knows: I'm always on the lookout for new, exciting experiences, and Austria, with its diverse landscape and culture, had long been on my list.
Preparing for such a trip is, of course, essential. Besides choosing the route and accommodation options, I also had to take care of practical matters. One of these was obtaining a vignette for using the Austrian motorways. I admit I was a bit late with the organization, but luckily I was able to register my digital 10-day vignette online. That was a real relief, as it was valid immediately and I could set off without any further delays. For the remaining days of my trip, I simply registered a second 10-day vignette.
This trip promised a perfect mix of breathtaking landscapes, cultural highlights, and culinary delights. I could hardly wait to discover the impressive mountains, green valleys, historic towns, and hospitable people of this country.

Day 1: Arrival in Vienna and a visit to the thermal baths
After a relaxing drive, during which I admired Austria's gentle hills and picturesque landscapes, I arrived in Vienna, the country's charming capital. Vienna, known for its imperial palaces, vibrant coffeehouse culture, and historic charm, welcomed me with open arms. But before diving into the urban adventure, something quite different was on my agenda: a visit to one of the famous Viennese thermal baths.
After the long drive, this visit to the thermal baths was just what I needed. It's fascinating how such an oasis of calm can exist in a big city like Vienna. The thermal spa was a paradise of warm pools, saunas, and relaxation areas, set within architecture that skillfully combines modernity with traditional elements. I sank into the soothingly warm water and felt the tension of the journey melt away. There were various pools, from bubbling jacuzzis to calm, meditative pools, each with its own charm.
The sauna area was equally impressive. Various saunas with different temperatures and aromas invited you to linger. The infusions in particular were an experience. With my eyes closed, enveloped in soothing steam, I felt as if I were in another world. In between, I cooled off under the refreshing showers, an invigorating contrast to the warming sauna.
The thermal spa also pampered me culinarily. The offerings ranged from light, healthy snacks to hearty, local specialties. I chose a classic Viennese Melange and a piece of Sachertorte to properly celebrate my first day in Vienna.
After a few hours of pure indulgence and relaxation, I felt refreshed and ready to explore Austria. But that wouldn't begin until the next day. Today was about arriving and recovering. I left the thermal spa feeling like I had experienced something truly special: a perfect start to my Austrian adventure.
