A 14-Day Road Trip Full of Discoveries

today I want to tell you about my latest adventure trip: a 14-day road trip by car through the picturesque Austria. Those who know me know: I am always on the lookout for new, exciting experiences and Austria, with its diverse landscapes and culture, had been on my list for a long time.
Preparation for such a tour is of course essential. In addition to choosing the route and accommodation options, I also had to take care of practical aspects. One of them was obtaining a vignette for using the Austrian motorways. I admit, I was a little late with the organisation, but luckily I was able to register the vignette online. That was a real relief, as it was valid immediately and I could set off without any further delays.
This trip promised a perfect mix of breathtaking landscapes, cultural highlights and culinary delights. I could hardly wait to get to know the impressive mountains, the green valleys, the historic cities and the hospitable people of this country.

Day 1: Arrival in Vienna and a Visit to the Thermal Baths
After a relaxed drive, during which I admired the gentle hills and picturesque landscapes of Austria, I arrived in Vienna, the charming capital of the country. Vienna, known for its imperial palaces, vibrant coffeehouse culture and historic charm, welcomed me with open arms. But before I plunged into the urban adventure, something quite different was on my plan: a visit to one of the famous Viennese thermal baths.
After the long drive, this visit to the thermal baths was just the right thing. It is fascinating how in a large city like Vienna such an oasis of calm can exist. The thermal spa was a paradise of warm pools, saunas and relaxation areas, set within an architecture that cleverly combines modernity and traditional elements. I sank into the pleasantly warm water and felt the tension of the journey fall away from me. There were various pools, from bubbling jacuzzis to calm, meditative pools, each with its own charm.
The sauna landscape was also impressive. Various saunas with different temperatures and aromas invited you to linger. The sauna infusions in particular were an experience. With eyes closed, enveloped in soothing steam, I felt as if I were in another world. In between, I cooled off in the refreshing showers, an invigorating contrast to the warming sauna.
I was also spoilt culinarily at the thermal spa. The offerings ranged from light, healthy snacks to hearty, local specialities. I opted for a classic Viennese Melange and a slice of Sachertorte to duly celebrate my first day in Vienna.
After a few hours of pure pleasure and relaxation, I felt refreshed and ready to explore Austria. But that was not to begin until the next day. Today was about arriving and recovering. I left the thermal baths with the feeling of having experienced something truly special: A perfect start to my Austrian adventure.
