Czech Republic: D5 towards Rozvadov narrowed to two lanes until 11 October 2026
On the most important motorway connection between the Czech Republic and Germany, the D5 between Pilsen and the border at Rozvadov, travellers still need to expect a noticeable lane narrowing until 11 October 2026. On the roughly ten-kilometre section between kilometre 100.5 and 110.6 in the direction of Rozvadov, the carriageway is narrowed to two lanes due to asphalt surface repairs.
In the opposite direction, i.e. from the border back to Pilsen and Prague, the situation is even tighter: on the parallel section between kilometre 110.5 and 100.5, traffic has already been diverted onto the opposite carriageway since 11 July 2026, using only one lane, likewise until 11 October 2026. The diversion at the construction site runs via the Rozvadov junction (Exit 107).
Additional construction work at the Rozvadov rest stop
At the same time, modernisation works are also underway until 31 October 2026 at the Rozvadov rest stop (kilometre 149.7 to 150.7 towards Prague), where traffic is likewise being routed in two-lane operation. Anyone regularly using this route should currently expect noticeably more time on the entire section between Pilsen and the German border, especially at weekends and on public holidays with increased cross-border traffic.
Toll in the Czech Republic
In the Czech Republic too, the vignette is just one of several forms of toll collection. For vehicles up to 3.5 t gross vehicle weight, i.e. cars and motorhomes, the vignette requirement applies on motorways such as the D5, while motorcycles remain toll-free. For vehicles over 3.5 t gross vehicle weight, i.e. lorries and buses, the distance-based toll of the satellite-based system MYTO CZ OBU applies instead, the amount of which depends, among other things, on road category, distance travelled and emission class. There is no separate special toll in the Czech Republic. More on this in our guide Toll in the Czech Republic.
Anyone who travels frequently between the Czech Republic and neighbouring countries often gets a better deal with the Europamaut flat rate for €12.80 per month: vignettes for all eight supported countries can be activated via a single subscription, with no minimum term and the option to cancel at any time.
