Czech Republic: Vignette prices to be frozen in 2027

The Czech Chamber of Deputies (Poslanecká sněmovna) completed the second reading of a draft law on 10 September 2026 that abolishes the automatic annual price increase of the electronic motorway vignette (dálniční známka). If the draft is passed as planned, vignette prices will remain frozen at 2026 levels in 2027 as well.

At the same time, the deputies shortened the deadline for the third reading to seven days, meaning it could already take place around 17 September 2026. However, two further steps are still needed before it actually comes into force: the draft must then pass through the Senate and the Czech President. The planned effective date for the frozen prices is 1 January 2027. The reform has therefore not yet been definitively adopted.

What exactly is changing?

If the price freeze remains in place, the same rates as currently in 2026 will apply in 2027: the annual vignette will continue to cost CZK 2,570, the monthly vignette CZK 480, the 10-day vignette CZK 300, and the daily vignette CZK 230. Without the reform, the automatic linkage to consumer prices would have led to an increase in 2027 as well.

In addition, the validity of the daily vignette is set to change from 2027: instead of being valid only until midnight on the day of purchase as before, it will in future be valid for 24 hours from the time of purchase – a noticeable benefit for anyone crossing the border in the late afternoon or evening.

The previous automatic price adjustment in line with inflation was introduced by the previous government. The current Czech government wants to provide drivers with noticeable financial relief by freezing vignette prices, as long as the further legislative process allows it.
