Yes. A valid vignette is mandatory for the toll motorway sections (D roads) in the Czech Republic, regardless of whether you are just passing through or staying in the country for longer. Cars and motorhomes up to 3.5 t GVW need an e-vignette.

The price of the Czech vignette depends on the validity period and the type of drive. You will find all official prices of the Czech vignette 2026, from 1 day to 1 year, in the price table above. The 10-day vignette for standard drive costs 300 CZK (approx. €12.40). With the Vignette Flat Rate, you instead pay a fixed price per month and activate the 10-day vignette yourself for every journey. The price comparison shows how this works out.

If you want to buy a Czech vignette (also known as a CZ vignette), you can do so online, for example directly from europamaut. Officially, the e-vignette is also available from the state e-shop, at post offices and selected petrol stations in the Czech Republic, and from machines in the border area. Sticker vignettes have no longer been available since January 2021; the vignette is now only registered to your licence plate number.

Motorcycles, trikes and trailers are exempt from the vignette requirement. Purely electric and hydrogen vehicles are also exempt. If they are registered outside the Czech Republic, however, this only applies if you report the vehicle online to the Czech toll authority as exempt before the first journey, otherwise fines of up to 5,000 CZK may be imposed. The digital vignette is valid on all motorway sections subject to the vignette requirement (D roads) throughout the Czech Republic. As Prague, Plzeň, Karlovy Vary, České Budějovice and Brno can be reached via such motorways, you need a valid vignette for your journey there.

Yes, the digital vignette is registered to the respective licence plate number and linked to it. There is no physical product and no confirmation that you need to carry with you. When registering, you therefore enter the licence plate number and the country of registration. Please check both carefully, as the vignette cannot be transferred to another vehicle.

You choose the start date of your vignette yourself when activating it in your Vignette Flat Rate. The vignette is valid from that day as soon as the registration confirmation has been received. For an activation for today, this usually takes just a few minutes. You should only set off once this confirmation has been received. You can check at any time in the free validity check whether a vignette is already registered for your licence plate number.

Officially, the Czech vignette is available as a 1-day, 10-day, 30-day and annual vignette. The annual vignette is valid for one year from the selected start date, the 30-day vignette for 30 calendar days and the 1-day vignette only for the selected calendar day. With the Vignette Flat Rate, you no longer buy individual vignettes: for every journey, you activate the 10-day Czech vignette yourself at no additional cost.

According to the official toll authority, on-the-spot fines of up to 5,000 Czech koruna (approx. €205) may be imposed, and up to 20,000 Czech koruna (approx. €820) in administrative proceedings. The police and customs administration check licence plate numbers with camera vehicles, at fixed control gantries and during checks at service areas and car parks.

Within the Vignette Flat Rate, you can and must activate vignettes for all further countries and travel periods. Without activating the vignettes, you are not entitled to use toll roads in the respective countries.
