Vignette Austria 2026: Prices increased, digital only from 2027
Vignette prices for Austria have increased by 2.9 percent in 2026, and at the same time a fundamental change is looming. The annual vignette for cars currently costs 106.80 euros, the 10-day vignette 12.80 euros, and the 1-day vignette 9.60 euros. However, more important than the price adjustment itself is another announcement: 2026 is the last year in which the classic sticker vignette will still be available in Austria. From 2027 onwards, only the digital vignette will be sold.
For anyone who regularly drives on Austrian motorways and expressways, it's therefore worth taking a look now at the new prices and the upcoming system change.
The new vignette prices for 2026
The prices for the car vignette in Austria in 2026 are as follows: 1-day vignette 9.60 euros, 10-day vignette 12.80 euros, 2-month vignette 32.00 euros, annual vignette 106.80 euros, and annual motorcycle vignette 42.70 euros.
As in previous years, the 2.9 percent increase is based on inflation trends. It applies to all vehicles up to 3.5 t gross vehicle weight, i.e. classic cars, motorcycles, and smaller motorhomes.
Digital only from 2027
The second, and in the long term more important, change concerns the vignette itself: after 2026, the physical sticker vignette will disappear completely from sale. Anyone travelling on Austrian motorways in the future will only be able to buy the digital vignette, which is purchased online or via app and is directly linked to the vehicle's license plate. One advantage of this: anyone who buys the digital vignette in good time before their trip no longer has to worry about a sticker and can conveniently book it while on the go.
Austria toll at a glance
For cars, motorcycles and motorhomes up to 3.5 t GVW, the digital vignette requirement applies on motorways and expressways. It is a flat fee for a fixed period.
For trucks, buses and larger motorhomes over 3.5 t GVW, the distance-based toll applies instead, paid with the GO-Box. Its amount depends on factors such as the distance driven, number of axles and emission class. In addition, individual tunnels and mountain roads (e.g. Brenner, Tauern Tunnel, Karawanken Tunnel) charge a separate special toll, regardless of any other toll product.
