Buy the Slovakia vignette online

Yes. A valid vignette is required for the signposted motorways and expressways in Slovakia, regardless of whether you are only passing through or staying in the country for longer. The vignette, often also called the Slovakia motorway vignette or Slovak motorway vignette, must already be valid when you drive onto a road that requires a vignette. This applies to cars, motorhomes and vans, but not to motorcycles. Exactly which sections are affected is explained under Roads requiring a vignette in Slovakia.

The Slovakia vignette price depends on the validity period, not on the size of the car. The official 2026 prices including VAT: 1 day 8.10 €, 10 days 10.80 €, 30 days 17.10 € and 365 days 90.00 €. The same prices apply to a trailer if it needs its own vignette as part of a combination over 3.5 t GVW. Officially, the e-vignette is available on eznamka.sk, the portal of the state motorway company NDS, in the eZnamka app and at points of sale, for example at selected petrol stations, at border crossings and in selected branches of Slovak Post. A vignette is required for two-track vehicles up to 3.5 t GVW and for all vehicles registered as cars (vehicle category M1), including motorhomes over 3.5 t. Motorcycles are exempt from the vignette requirement. Trucks and buses over 3.5 t GVW pay the distance-based toll instead. The vehicle category is shown in the vehicle registration certificate. For a combination of a car or van and a trailer with a total GVW of up to 3.5 t, the vignette for the towing vehicle is sufficient. If the total weight of the combination is higher, the towing vehicle and the trailer each need their own vignette, both at the same price. Motorhomes in category M1 always only need the vignette, even over 3.5 t GVW. The digital vignette is valid on all motorways and expressways in Slovakia that require a vignette. No vignette is needed on ordinary country roads and on sections not marked as requiring a vignette, nor on certain sections around Bratislava. If you drive to Bratislava via the motorway border crossings, you still need a vignette as soon as you enter the country: coming from Austria, around 2 km of the D4 up to the Jarovce junction require a vignette, coming from Hungary around 9 km of the D2. Yes, the digital vignette is registered to the respective license plate and linked to it, and checks are carried out electronically based on the license plate. A sticker is not required. When registering, you therefore enter the license plate and the country of registration. Check both carefully, because a vignette for the wrong license plate is not valid for your vehicle. According to the NDS terms and conditions, errors in the data must be reported immediately, at the latest by the end of the calendar day after payment or after the start of validity. After that, a correction is only made if the incorrectly entered license plate was not assigned to any vehicle in the meantime and you can prove this. A vignette cannot be transferred to another vehicle. If you make a typo, please contact us immediately. At europamaut, your digital vignette is registered once the registration confirmation has been received, usually within a few minutes. You should only set off once you have this confirmation. Officially, the Slovak vignette is available for 1 day (until 24:00 on the selected day), 10 days, 30 days and 365 days, each including the start day. When buying directly from NDS, the start can be chosen up to 60 days in advance, but no later than 31 December of the year of purchase. Anyone driving on toll roads without a valid vignette must expect a fine of €100 to €500. If the violation is detected by camera, the vehicle owner receives a payment order for €150. If two-thirds of this amount (€100) is credited within 15 days of delivery, the fine is considered fully settled. During a police check, a fine of €50 to €200 is possible on the spot. Enforcement is carried out using cameras and police checks based on the license plate.

There is no special toll for individual tunnels or mountain pass roads in Slovakia; the vignette covers all roads that require a vignette. Trucks and buses over 3.5 t GVW pay the distance-based toll instead (currently with an on-board unit, eMyto), which is not part of the Vignette Flat Rate. Within the Vignette Flat Rate, you can and must activate vignettes for all further countries and travel periods. Without activating the vignettes, you are not authorized to use toll roads in the respective countries.
