For the use of many highways and expressways as well as tunnels and bridges, so-called toll fees are charged. The revenue generated from tolls is invested, for example, in the road network. How is toll collected in Estonia?
In Estonia, no toll fees are charged for vehicles up to 3.5 t for the use of highways, tunnels, and bridges. Therefore, you can use all routes completely worry-free and free of charge. However, please note that on your way to Estonia you may pass through other countries that charge tolls for the use of their road networks.
However, there is a time-based truck toll. This toll applies to all public roads and is mandatory for all vehicles over 3.5 t. This also includes heavy motorhomes over 3.5 t if they are registered as trucks. If your motorhome is not registered as a truck, it remains exempt from tolls.
The toll is calculated based on various criteria (period of use in days, emission class, weight under/over 12 t, and number of axles). Payment of the truck toll can be made either online in advance or at various border stations on site (by credit card).
