Chapel Bridge

The Chapel Bridge is one of Lucerne’s most iconic landmarks and a top spot for memorable photos. Together with the Water Tower, it shapes the cityscape along the Reuss River.

In August 1993, a devastating fire destroyed large parts of the bridge. Within just eight months, the damaged sections were rebuilt, and the new Chapel Bridge reopened on April 14, 1994.

Water Tower

Built between 1290 and 1300, the octagonal Water Tower served various purposes over the centuries, including a watchtower, archive, prison and storage for state treasures and war booty. Today it houses a historical arms collection.

Musegg Wall

The Musegg Wall with its nine towers is part of Lucerne’s medieval fortifications. In addition to its impressive appearance, it provides habitat for rare bird species, bats and reptiles.

Lion Monument

The world-famous Lion Monument commemorates the Swiss Guards who died during the French Revolution in 1792. The moving sculpture attracts around 1.4 million visitors each year.

Spreuer Bridge

The Spreuer Bridge is considered a hidden gem of Lucerne. Although smaller than the Chapel Bridge, it is rich in history and well worth a visit.

Jesuit Church
