Toll System in the Czech Republic
To cover the costs of maintaining highways and expressways in the Czech Republic, a vignette requirement applies. Since January 2021, the vignette in the Czech Republic has been available exclusively in digital form; adhesive stickers are no longer issued.
A vignette is mandatory for most highways and expressways in the Czech Republic. It must be purchased and registered to the license plate of passenger cars, motorhomes, and light trucks (vehicles with at least four wheels and a maximum permissible gross weight of up to 3.5 tons). Vehicles with a permissible gross weight of more than 3.5 tons require an electronic transmitter (On-Board Unit 5051).

As most highways and expressways in the Czech Republic may only be used without penalty when a valid vignette is in place, this also applies to travel to cities such as Prague, Pilsen, Karlovy Vary, České Budějovice, or Brno.
